Andrew McKay
Strength & Conditioning Coach

Andrew McKay enters his third year with the Morgan State’s strength and conditioning program.  He was hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in October of 2013, and was then promoted to head strength and conditioning coach in March 2014.

McKay provides a direct strength and training leadership role to the Bears football program while coordinating and supervising off-season and in-season programs for the remaining Morgan State athletic teams.

Prior to joining the Morgan State staff, McKay was an assistant at Charleston Southern University (SC) working primarily with the football team during the summer of 2013.

McKay also interned at The Citadel and worked with football, baseball, wrestling, and track and field during the fall of 2012.

He was a part-time assistant at East Carolina University (N.C.) under Coach Jeff Connors and worked with the football team during the summer of 2012.  Before that, McKay was an intern at Charleston Southern University from 2010 until 2012, and served as interim director of strength and conditioning during January and February of 2012.

While at Charleston Southern, McKay worked with all 12 sports and was directly responsible for programming both men and women athletic teams.

McKay began his career working in a private facility in Mount Pleasant (S.C.) called Velocity Sports Performance from 2010 to 2012.

McKay earned his Master’s degree in Health, Exercise, and Sport Science from the Citadel in 2013, and earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Hope College (Mich.) where he was also a member of the Flying Dutchmen football team where he played fullback and offensive guard (2002-05).

McKay is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  He is also a certified Performance Coach through the National Association of Speed and Explosion (NASE).

A native of Evart, Mich., McKay is married to the former Kassi Weston and the couple has one son, William (23), and two daughters, Dasha (16) and Rande
